Over Half of Republicans Believe The President isn’t an American

If He Wasn’t Born in the U.S. or Naturalized The President Must Be an Illegal Alien

Less than half of Republicans believe that Barack Obama was born in the United States of America, a new public opinion poll finds.

Only 42 percent of Republican respondents in a Research 2000 survey, conducted for the liberal website Daily Kos, said they thought Obama was a natural born citizen; 28 percent said they did not believe Obama was born in the United States; 30 percent said they were not sure.

Is Republican base just woefully ignorant? It doesn’t take a firm understanding of politics to answer that question. Anyone remember “drill baby drill”, the slogan of the 2008 RNC, even though drilling would have almost no effect on gas prices, ten years from now? I must say, while I find their race baiting abhorrent, I do enjoy watching this sinking ship. It looks the GOP’s tried and true ‘Southern Strategy” is finally backfiring. The Right must think independent voters are as stupid as they are.

Glenn Beck Calls Obama a Racist

“Has a Deep-Seated Hatred of White People”

Beck ignores that the President is half white; immediately contradicts himself. The GOP is obviously trying to stir up enough racial anxiety to try to make ground in 2010 elections. Of course it will rally the base, as they are mostly racist idiots, but will it work with independents? I doubt it.

To quote a friend: “What a lunatic.”

In North Carolina, Christians Rally Against Protecting Children from Violence

Not a Single NC State Republican Senator Voted for School Violence Prevention Act

Having already been passed by the North Carolina Senate, a bill before the NC House of Representatives is facing stiff opposition from a fundamentalist theist group and the political right. The bill would amend current state bullying policies to include sexual orientation. Yup, Christians and Republicans want to prevent schools from protecting children who are (or perceived to be) homosexual from bullying and violence. The state standards already protect against bullying based on race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender, socioeconomic status, academic status, physical appearance, mental or physical developments, and sensory disability. However, the Christian Action League says gay students or the students of gay parents shouldn’t be protected from bullying. Why? Here is brief excerpt from their website.

This could eventually harm our marriage laws and lead to legalizing same-sex “marriage.” Nevertheless, many in the leadership of the House prefer to see it become law. They have embraced the pro-homosexual message of Equality NC and the ACLU who are putting a good deal of pressure on House members to do what it takes to pass the bill. Pro-homosexual lobbyists are even suggesting to legislators who would vote against the bill that they “take a walk,” or be absent during voting on the bill.

The Christian Action League believes a majority of House members are against the measure. But a lot of pressure from the House leadership and pro-homosexual special interest groups can change votes. It can make lawmakers who would normally vote against the bill vote for it. And such pressure can also cause some lawmakers to “take a walk” during the vote.

How exactly is protecting children from bullying an assault on marriage? I suspect this really a matter of fundamentalist parents wanting their children to be able to be openly intolerant to their classmates. Growing up, my parents taught me to be respectful to all people regardless of our differences. I certainly wouldn’t have been able to get away with any bullying. I really can’t imagine parents telling their child it is okay to mistreat or harass any given group. Christians, what happened to love thy neighbor?

In North Carolina? Contact your State Representative here. The vote will be 7:00pm EST tonight.

Murder Suspects Spoke of Starting a Revolution Against the U.S. Government

A man and his nine year old daughter are the latest victims in the string of hate crimes that have changed the national debate. It will come as no surprise that this Hispanic family’s murderers were white supremacists with ties to the controversial “Minute Men”, vigilantes who “patrol” (get drunk) at the border looking for illegal immigrants to “detain” (rough up).

According to local law enforcement, three people posing as police officers forced their way into the home of Raul Flores in Arivaca, Arizona, about 10 miles from the Mexican border, on May 30. They shot and killed Flores and his nine-year-old daughter, and wounded Flores’ wife. The three, Shawna Forde, Jason Bush, and Albert Gaxiola, were arrested and charged last Thursday and Friday.

But here’s where it gets interesting: Forde’s brother, Merrill Metzger, has told the Arizona Daily Star that Forde had been talking recently about “starting a revolution against the United States government,” and had said she planned to recruit members of the Aryan Nations as part of a plan to rob drug cartels.

It sounds like Forde had started putting that plan into action. Bush, accused of being the triggerman in the killing, was also charged Friday in the 1997 murder of a sleeping Hispanic homeless man in Washington, reports the paper. According to law enforcement authorities in the state, Bush “has had long-standing ties to the Aryan Nations.” In 2003, they say, Bush moved to the Sandpoint area of northern Idaho, a historic center of white supremacist activity.

Guess that DHS report wasn’t so off after all, was it Rupert?

Christian Groups Seeks to Burn Library Books They Find Offensive

Wait, is this the 16th century?

Milwaukee-area citizen Robert C. Braun of the Christian Civil Liberties Union (CCLU) distributed at the meeting copies of a claim for damages he and three other plaintiffs filed April 28 with the city; the complainants seek the right to publicly burn or destroy by another means the library’s copy of Baby Be-Bop. The claim also demands $120,000 in compensatory damages ($30,000 per plaintiff) for being exposed to the book in a library display, and the resignation of West Bend Mayor Kristine Deiss for “allow[ing] this book to be viewed by the public.”

Here is another book burning cult.

More Child Indoctrination; Abuse

This is the most disturbing theist video I’ve seen to date, I could barely make it through the whole thing. Has anyone seen worse? Notice how hostile the church members are. Why agree to do a documentary and act like children? These people are just angry and sad, a charge often made theist against atheist.

More From the Unlicensed, Welfare Reciptient Plumber, Not Really Named Joe

Samuel Wurzelbacher: I Would Never Let Queers Near My Children

Showing that famous tolerance we’ve all come to expect from the right (and Christians), “Joe the Plumber” said the following in an interview with (surprise) Christianity Today.

“I’ve had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn’t have them anywhere near my children. But at the same time, they’re people, and they’re going to do their thing.”

I’m sure Joe really doesn’t have any homosexual friends, as who would allow themselves to be degraded in such a way? Imagine Sam the Fraud, err, Joe the Plumber, delicately and tactfully addressing the issue with his alleged friend. “Yer my type of fella, but stay your perverted, hell bound ass away from my brood.” Joe added, “Git-R-Done”. Earlier in the same quote Joe said that is you look in the dictionary, queer means unusual, or strange, so his use of the word isn’t offensive.

“People don’t understand the dictionary–it’s called queer. Queer means strange and unusual. It’s not like a slur, like you would call a white person a honky or something like that.”

Any white person who is offended when called a honky is an asshole. I am white, and the entire country is built around and for people like me. I know I have every possible advantage over a minority, but you better not call me honky! Never mind that white America has come up with racial slurs for every possible outside group, honky is just taking too far. I will not live like a king while others live in ghettos and be called a honky, it’s just not going to happen. Moving along..

Joe went on to say that he wouldn’t run for public office until his intolerant, violent, hypocritical god told him to.

God hasn’t said, ‘Joe, I want you to run.’ I feel more important to just encourage people to get involved, one way or another. If I can inspire some leaders, that would be great.” Joe added: “I don’t know if I want to be a leader.”
